J3Personica Offers High Reliability Organization Consulting Emphasizing a Sustainable HRO Culture

J3Personica is proud to announce the addition of our High Reliability Organization (“HRO”) consulting services, led by national expert, Marty Scott, M.D., MBA.

High reliability organizations operate in complex, high-hazard domains without serious accidents or catastrophic failures. For example, a military aircraft carrier prioritizes safety and failures are rare, even though aircraft takeoff and land every 48-60 seconds, amid constantly changing conditions.

Not surprisingly, health care organizations are adopting HRO principles. The challenge is that many organizations implement HRO processes, without creating the leadership skills, and culture, that support HRO success.

J3P’s unique approach emphasizes:

  • The leadership and behavioral skills that build a sustainable HRO culture

  • That high reliability is an on-going process and frame of mind, not a specific structure

  • The cultural hardwiring of processes to create effective communication and high performing teams

J3P’s HRO programs are led by nationally recognized expert, Marty, Scott M.D., MBA, a pediatric intensivist and widely recognized leader in patient safety and quality. He’s designed and delivered HRO training to over 60,000 leaders and front-line staff.

Dr. Scott currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Quality and Safety Officer for Grady Health System. Previously, he served in similar roles for Meridian Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, Wake Forest Baptist Health, and Memorial Health. He’s a Certified Patient Safety Officer, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, and Transformative Change Leader.

“This was one of the best courses I’ve taken. Dr. Scott is truly a subject matter expert, could relate personal experiences, and was an excellent speaker.” – American Association of Physician Leadership (AAPL) program attendee.

“Dr. Scott’s approach to HRO training is a perfect fit for J3P,” said Alan Friedman, CEO of J3P. “A successful HRO program requires leaders with a high degree of self-awareness that allows the foundational behavior to create a sustainable, safe, consistent and zero harm culture.”

J3P’s can help organizations build and implement their entire HRO program, with a readiness analysis, curriculum development, training program, leader training, peer-coaching and on-going support. It’s also common for us to work on re-engaging leadership in the HRO journey - getting things back on track when the process is in place, but progress is lagging.
